Since yesterday, Congress has been having continuous sessions to choose the new Karnataka Chief Minister. The Congress is trying to reach an agreement with Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar and former CM Siddaramaiah, two senior stalwarts who want the top job.
Shivakumar arrived in Delhi today after canceling his journey yesterday due to sickness. Siddaramaiah arrived yesterday.
D K Shivakumar visited Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge at his Delhi home today to discuss Karnataka government formation.
Kharge Meets Separately With Siddaramaiah And Shivakumar
Shivakumar arrived at Kharge’s house around 5 pm to discuss Karnataka’s chief ministership. After a 30-minute meeting, he departed without commenting.
Kharge met with Siddaramaiah after Shivakumar. Despite rumours that Congress wants Siddaramaiah as CM and DK Shivakumar as his deputy, no official declaration has been made. Shivakumar is still demanding the Karnataka CM seat notwithstanding the Congress high command’s decision.
Rahul Gandhi and other top leaders have discussed the problem with Kharge. According to sources, Kharge would consult Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi before making a decision.
Bengaluru can announce it. After Congress won 135 of 224 Karnataka Assembly seats, Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah are frontrunners for chief minister. A Congress-supporting MLA is independent.
AICC spokesperson Pawan Khera said the Karnataka Chief Minister will be appointed tomorrow. Khera informed reporters that the central leadership had heard from the newly elected MLAs. Appointing a Chief Minister is difficult.
Delhi cannot impose it… Everyone’s opinion matters. “We must consult with all stakeholders before choosing the chief minister,” he stated. “Process underway. Observers have arrived. Met MLAs. MLAs spoke. The opinions and records have gone to the central leadership. “So, in a day or two you will know the answer,” Khera replied.
