Sameer Wankhede, the former zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), who is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for allegedly seeking a bribe of Rs 25 crore from superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is not playing the Dalit card in this situation. The bribe in question was reportedly for the amount of Rs 25 crore.
On Friday evening, his wife, Kranti, will pay a visit to the Chaityabhoomi in Dadar, which is the location where Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was cremated, and then she will speak to the media.
Wankhede also enjoys the backing of the Republican Party of India (Ramdas Athavale), which has voiced its support for the candidate.
Athavale, a minister for the Union, thinks it is noteworthy that his party is backing an official who is now being questioned by a central agency.
