Chhattisgarh reported 73 new cases and a positivity rate of 7.61% on Friday, a significant increase from Wednesday, when it stood at 3.22 percent, according to a government health bulletin.
The state’s health officials have intensified surveillance by practicing and testing in response to rising instances.
Dr. Subhash Mishra, director of the epidemic and spokesman for the state’s Covid-19 control, told TOI that, in accordance with guidelines from the Centre, genome sequencing in the state has resumed, target testing is being conducted in all districts, and contact tracing is also being conducted.
He added that the current Covid variant is less severe than the previous delta variant. Mishra implored the public to avoid throngs, wear masks, and maintain social distance in order to prevent the virus’ spread. Patients with co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease are advised to be extra cautious and seek medical attention immediately if they develop symptoms.
The April 7th health bulletin reported 959 state-wide samples analyzed on Friday. The state has 388 patients.
Anticipating an increase in the number of Covid patients, hospitals have increased their efforts to assure the availability of beds, medical personnel, and medical equipment. “With a total of 50 beds and 16 ICU patients at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Raipur, the administrators are prepared for any situation. Dr. Arvind Neral, the hospital’s medical superintendent, stated that if the number of patients increased, the number of available beds would also increase.
