Quarter-Setting NBA Record
Klay Thompson scored 14 of the Warriors’ initial 16 points as the Dubs established an NBA record with 55 points in the first quarter. With five first-quarter 3-pointers, Thompson joined Stephen Curry and James Harden as the only players in NBA history to make 300 3-pointers in a season. In addition, Thompson led the NBA in 3-pointers made for the first time in his career. In the first quarter, the Dubs made 12 three-pointers and had 18 assists with no turnovers. In NBA history, fifty-five points are the second-most scored in any quarter, trailing only the Buffalo Braves’ 58 points against the Celtics in 1972.
