Stock Market suspended, 14 April 2023: Due to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti, the stock markets will be suspended tomorrow, April 14 (Friday). Therefore, the stock market will only be open for transactions on four days this week.
This is the third holiday for the Indian equity indices in the past two weeks. The benchmark indices were closed on April 4 for Mahavir Jayanti and on April 7 for Good Friday, rendering last week shortened with only three trading days.
This week, investors can only trade on the 10, 11, 12, and 13 of April, as the markets are automatically halted on April 15 and 16 for the weekend holidays.
BSE and NSE will be closed on April 14 for Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti.
According to the calendar of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the equity segment, the equity derivative segment, and the SLB segment will be closed on April 14.
Similarly, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed on April 14 in observance of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti.
Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 causes a partial holiday on the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX).
According to the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) website, the commodity market will be closed for the morning session on April 14 (Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti). However, the commodity derivative segment will recommence for traders during the evening session.
NSE and BSE will be closed for 13 days in April.
The BSE Sensex and the National Stock Exchange will be closed for a total of 13 days in April 2023, leaving only 17 days for the markets to operate.
