Sonam Bajwa is presently one of the most prominent and well-compensated actresses in the Punjabi film industry.
The actress has also appeared in a number of south Indian and Hindi films. However, Sonam disclosed in a recent interview that she had a few requirements when discussing roles in Bollywood films.
Sonam, who is 33 years old, has starred in some of the highest-grossing Punjabi films of all time. However, her Bollywood appearances have been limited to dance sequences and cameos in only two films, Bala and Street Dancer 3D.
Sonam Bajwa refused Bollywood kissing scenes.
Sonam stated in a recent interview with Film Companion, “In Bollywood, I declined a few roles because I questioned whether or not Punjab would approve. Due to our belief that families should be safe, families should be vigilant.
Back then, I was terrified to perform a love sequence in a film because I was unsure of how the audience would react. How will these individuals who have shaped who I am today relate to this? Will they recognize that this is for the script? Will my family comprehend that this is for a film?”
Sonam had previously disclosed that she had also auditioned for the main role in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om in 2006, but Deepika Padukone ultimately won the part and made her Bollywood début. Sonam made her film debut with the Punjabi film Best of Luck in 2013.
She is currently starring alongside Tania in Godday Godday Chaa. The film, which was released on May 26 and grossed over Rs 5 crore in its debut weekend, was a box office success. Sonam will next be seen in Carry On Jatta 3 alongside Gippy Grewal.
