According to PTI, a sudden flood in North Sikkim inundated National Highway 10 near Pegong.
On Thursday night, heavy rains hit North Sikkim, causing local rivers to overflow and flood the roadway. They informed PTI that flash floods had blocked off Lachen and Lachung in North Sikkim.
Officials claimed the highway is unusable due to flash flood damage. Local officials are examining the situation and Border Roads Organisation is clearing debris to restore normalcy.
They claimed the roadway will take weeks to reopen. Landslides around 13th mile and Thulo Khola, Rail khola along Gangtok-Nathula JN Road have obstructed the road.

They said that Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, Nathula, and North Sikkim tourism licenses are canceled till further notice.
On Thursday, officials in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district reported that a father-son cattle-rearing couple perished trying to save their goats from a flooded ravine after storm Biparjoy’s torrential rains. The storm hit Kutch area on Thursday, bringing heavy rain to Gujarat, particularly Bhavnagar.
Officials also reported three tree fall injuries in Gujarat’s Devbhoomi Dwarka district when storm Biparjoy made landfall on Kutch coast on Thursday evening.
Many trees and power lines were uprooted near Jakhau and Mandvi towns in Kutch district. Harsh Sanghavi, Gujarat Minister of State for Home, reported no deaths until 7 pm. \
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported the cyclone made landfall around 4.30 pm and will finish by midnight. Since Thursday morning, Gujarat coastal Dwarka, Okha, Naliya, Bhuj, Porbandar, and Kandla have seen significant rains.
The IMD reported 50-kmph coastal winds. “#IAF assets ready for post-Cyclonebiparjoy relief and rescue. The IAF tweeted that it will help residents with cyclone-related emergencies.
