Andaz Apna Apna, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi in 1994, is still one of Bollywood’s most beloved and entertaining films. The film, starring Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, ultimately found an audience over the years, despite its initial box office failure.
However, in a recent interview, Rajkumar blamed Salman and Aamir for the failure of Andaz Apna Apna at the box office.
Rajkumar stated to a news website that Salman and Aamir were inaccessible for the film’s promotion. He stated that the film was overlooked because Salman had just released his debut film, Maine Pyar Kiya.
It’s Salman Khan and Aamir Khan’s fault that Andaz Apna Apna bombed the box office.
According to the director, Andaz Apna Apna was an entirely different narrative with more comedy, adventure, and humor than romance. It was a novel film that required time to comprehend. Prior to its publication in 1989, the distributors were also novices.
He continued by explaining that neither Salman nor Aamir was in the city to publicize the film because they were filming elsewhere. There was no activity, no media interaction, and nothing else required for the film’s promotion. The distributors, he added, were also very furious.
While there have been numerous rumors about a possible remake or sequel to Andaz Apna Apna, Rajkumar has stated that there is no room for a remake or sequel because the film still appears fresh. He also stated that whoever attempts to reproduce this timeless film will fail, as it is impossible to recreate such a film.
Andaz Apna Apna featured, in addition to Salman and Aamir, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Shakti Kapoor in prominent roles.
