Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg responded awkwardly to “The Daily Show” correspondent Desi Lydic’s jokes about rail delays.
This week’s Comedy Central guest host, Lydic, accompanied Buttigieg at the Department of Transportation to discuss Fox News, accusations that his department is “going woke,” and the real-world consequences of the Republican “culture wars.”
Buttigieg appeared perplexed and remained silent.
But the meeting got off to a poor start when Lydic appeared to leave Buttigieg waiting before entering the room and apologizing. I apologize for my tardiness. I boarded Amtrak.”
At the conclusion of the interview, Lydic appeared to perplex Buttigieg by requesting a “quick reimbursement” and “little refund” for the aforementioned train delay, before taking an impromptu tour of the room and touching objects on desks against his wishes.
