After appearing in Ari Aster’s “Beau Is Afraid,” Hollywood superstar Joaquin Phoenix is taking his acting chops to the next level by teaming up with filmmaker Todd Haynes on an NC-17-rated homosexual romance drama.
After the screening of his most recent picture, “May December,” which starred Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, Todd Haynes made a presentation at the Cannes Picture Festival and provided attendees with information regarding his upcoming project.
The upcoming film starring Joaquin Phoenix will be an NC-17 gay romance.
Haynes added that the future movie will be based on an original story that he and Joaquin co-developed together. The script will be based on ideas and concepts that the actor offered to Haynes.
Haynes has claimed that the next movie will be an original script for a feature-length picture and that he will be involved in the writing of the script in some capacity. The group is working toward starting production on it early in the year after this one. It’s a queer love story that takes place in 1930s Los Angeles.
Haynes continued by saying that Joaquin was putting more pressure on me. “This will be a film that is rated NC-17.”
