Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan was safely evacuated from the port of Wakayama after hearing the sound of the explosion during the address. He later reported to the Prime Minister on Saturday that the event was nothing to worry about.
Several news organizations, including the Kyodo News Agency, have reported that a “smoke bomb” has been detonated. However, there were no indications of any immediate injuries or damage at the scene of the event.
While Kishida spoke in western Japan, NHK reported that a guy was apprehended.
In Wakayama, which is located in western Japan, the national station NHK said that a man was detained at the location where Kishida arrived to speak.
The local police declined to answer, and there was no instant formal confirmation of the occurrence that was upheld.
Following the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in July 2022 when he was speaking at a campaign event, Japan has upped their level of security.
