Tom Cruise is allegedly upset that his current film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One would only play on IMAX screens in North America for one week before Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer takes over for its first three weeks in theaters.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One opens July 12, followed by Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie on July 17. In July, both films will compete for box office supremacy.
Cruise discussed his struggle for larger theaters at the Rome premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Variety said that the actor said he feels honored to amuse so many people globally with his flicks.

Tom Cruise received great reviews during the Rome red carpet premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One on Monday. In Mission: Impossible 7, Cruise and Hayley Atwell, who portrays Grace, a mysterious and “destructive” new character, hunt down a dangerous new weapon that threatens civilization.
After the Rome gala, reporters who saw the film tweeted their reactions. Perri Nemiroff of Collider tweeted, “Dead Reckoning Part One is another winner for the franchise. Again, the production value is THROUGH THE ROOF with some of the most well-defined and exciting set pieces captured in ways that actually make you feel like you’re in the thick of the action.”
Erik Davis of Fandango praised Dead Reckoning “an impeccably made action film that does not stop entertaining.” “The story is big and sprawling, but I like how it both felt complete and left you dying for what comes next,” he said.
