Sanjay Raut has asked the UN to establish June 20 “World Traitors Day” to commemorate the “desertion” of his party chairman Uddhav Thackeray by 40 MLAs, including Maharashtra chairman Minister Eknath Shinde.
Raut wrote to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres saying the BJP “instigated” 40 Shiv Sena MPs to defect on June 20 last year.
Raut said in the letter that each defector took Rs 50 crore, which the parliamentarians denied.
Eknath Shinde, the Maharashtra CM, commanded the 40 MLAs who attacked us. Raut stated 10 Independents who supported the Maha Vikas Aghadi administration also quit.

He tweeted the June 19 letter Tuesday.
He claimed Shinde and others left Mumbai for Gujarat on June 20.
“They deserted Uddhav Thackeray who was ailing and underwent two major surgeries on November 12 and November 19, 2021,” Raut claimed.
He wrote that they all took advantage of Thackeray’s condition.
“Please make June 20 World Traitors Day like June 21 is World Yoga Day. To remember traitors, he said.
39 MLAs led by Shinde overthrew the Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government last year. The Election Commission of India later gave the Shinde camp the Shiv Sena name and bow-and-arrow emblem, splitting the 57-year-old party.
Shiv Sena (UBT) employees also celebrated “World Traitors Day” on Tuesday.
