Dasara is the first time in Natural Star Nani’s cinematic career that he has portrayed a true mass-audience character. Today, Srikanth Odela’s directorial debut premiered in theaters throughout the world, amidst a great deal of anticipation. Consider the outcome of Nani’s first pan-Indian film.
Story:
Dasara is placed in the Godhavarikhani village of Veerlapalle. Alcoholism affects Dharani (Nani), his companion Soori (Dheekshith Shetty), and others. Vennela (Keerthy Suresh) had been their childhood buddy.
Son of Shivanna (Samuthirakani), Chinna Nambi (Shine Tom Chacko) is elected Sarpanch and is responsible for the Silk Bar. Rajanna (Sai Kumar) aids Soori and his companions in a legal matter, and they elect him Sarpanch.
Someone then murders Soori on the night of his wedding to Vennela. Who killed Soori? What will become of Vennela? Then, what did Dharani do? Throughout the film, all questions are answered.
Plus Points:
Nani challenged himself by taking the character of Dharani in Dasara for the first time, having previously played boy-next-door roles throughout his career. His acting in the picture is exceptional. Nani shines in the part of Dharani in every aspect, including dress, body language, and speech. His performance in the emotional parts is remarkable.
Keerthy Suresh, a National Award-winning actor, is cast in a substantial part. Her acting as Vennela is outstanding, and this is her greatest Tollywood film since Mahanati. Her performance and conversations are incredibly natural.
Dheekshith Shetty is comparable to the other two protagonists. His performance is incredibly natural, and following the release of this film, he will undoubtedly be offered more good parts in the Telugu cinema business.
Shine Tom Chacko is cast in a prestigious part, which he deserves with an outstanding performance. The performances of Sai Kumar, Samuthirakani, Purnaa, and others, are satisfactory.
Dasara is Srikanth Odela’s debut as a director, and it’s a good one. He is superior as a director than as a writer. In the next days, he will get insane proposals from prominent banners. The director demonstrates his exceptional abilities on the big screen.
The folks behind the action scenes and language have done an excellent job. Nani’s rough appearance and action scene performance are commendable. Both the intermission and the climax are captivating.
Negative Points:
As said previously, Srikanth Odela is a talented filmmaker, but as a writer, he fails to select a captivating plot. In the first half of the script, he does a good job of pacing, but in the second half, the pace is quite sluggish and causes boredom.
In addition, there is little to captivate the spectator outside the conclusion. In the second half, the plot is extremely predictable. This is a major disappointment in the film. But, Nani’s performance makes it work. If the second half is as captivating as the first, Dasara will be a fantastic film.
There is no opportunity for comedy for the entirety of the film. In the initial half, director Srikanth Odela might have inserted some humorous sequences amongst the pals.
The placing of the well-known song Chamkeela Angeelesi is quite disappointing. Parts of the discussions cannot be heard.
Technical Factors:
Only mass audiences will find Srikanth Odela’s substandard narrative with its commercial features entertaining. Santhosh Narayanan, the film’s soundtrack composer, provides the most inspiring music, which enhances several moments.
Sathyan Sooryan is an outstanding worker. His camerawork, particularly during the night sequences, is pretty sophisticated. Dasara would have been more fascinating if Naveen Nooli, the film’s editor, had deleted a number of sequences in the second half. The production values are exceptional. The makeup artists deserve praise for their incredible job.
Verdict:
Overall, Dasara is a gritty action drama with an exceptional performance by Nani. He carried the film the entire distance. Moreover, Keerthy Suresh, Dheekshith Shetty, and Shine Tom Chacko performed admirably. The film is technically excellent. Apart for a few sluggish moments in the second half, the picture is an ideal pick for a weekend viewing.
