The city’s garbage collection has been halted for the last six days because Karnataka’s outsourced civic employees are protesting in Bengaluru, pressing the government to introduce direct payment of their salary.

As a result of the strike, rubbish piles up on roadsides and near residences around the city. Typically, daily waste collection occurs in every ward. Owing to the strike, massive amounts of waste have accumulated and are lying uncollected and smelling near hotels and residences.
STP operators and employees of the underground drainage system are also participating in the demonstration, and the underground drainage system has begun to cause annoyance.
Wetwells and STPs are not functioning. Throughout the city, so many wet wells and STPs have been clogged. This has raised the strain on manholes in numerous regions, causing sewage to seep into the road.
