Protest against the list of candidates for the BJP in Karnataka. Protests are taking place in Ramdurg, Jayanagar, and Belagavi North. Jagdish Shettar, who used to be the chief minister but has been on the run since JP, was caught today.

Will meet Nadda. Jagdish Shettar, the former Chief Minister, has said that he can’t agree to not run for office and has said that he will run as an independent. National President J.P. Nadda was also told that the people will let the leaders know what they think if it is left out.

KS Eshwarappa, a former deputy chief minister and BJP state president, wrote to Nadda to tell him that he is leaving politics. He was asked to run against Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah in Varuna, which is where he lives. Eshwarappa says that he won’t die at 75.

Yesterday, BJP put out the first list of 189 candidates. Basavaraj Bommai, who is the Chief Minister, will run from Shigaon in Haveri. B.Y. Vijayendra, the son of former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and the vice president of the BJP in the state, will run for public vote.
